Physical Properties Laboratory Technician
Principal Responsibilities
Cambium is seeking a Physical Properties Laboratory Technician to join the resins and composites development team. You’ll work closely with scientists, engineers, and technicians to contribute to research and testing activities in the development of new resin and composite products. This will be a hands-on role, and we will provide training and mentorship every step of the way. As Cambium experiences rapid growth, the responsibilities of this role are expected to evolve.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate analysis equipment such as Pycnometer, Dilatometer, Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC), Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA), Dynamic Mechanical Analysis (DMA), and Rheometer to measure physical properties of materials.
- Prepare samples for analytical testing, including small-scale mixing of chemicals and using an oven to cure resin samples.
- Perform routine calibrations and preventative maintenance.
- Clean the laboratory space.
- Follow all safety protocols and contribute to our culture of safety.
- Follow written and verbal instructions with excellent attention to detail to precisely carry out a wide range of laboratory tasks.
- Create and contribute to the product demonstration and engineering teams in a manner consistent with Cambium’s mission and values and the growth of Cambium’s business.
Key Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate
- 2-5+ years experience working in a physical property, formulation, or chemistry laboratory
- Experience with DSC, TGA, DMA, rheometer, and/or dilatometer
- Have a strong desire to learn and be willing to work in a hands-on role
- Detail oriented, meticulous, and patient working style
- Good manual dexterity and fine motor skills
- Comfortable with standing and sitting workstations
- Ability to complete tasks on time
- Due to the nature of the work, you must have US citizenship
- Superb communication skills and team-oriented mindset
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with thermosetting resins such as epoxy
- Experience with polymers
- Experience with continuous fiber reinforced composites
