Program Manager

El Segundo, CA | FULL-TIME desired (Remote/Hybrid considered)

Principal Responsibilities

The Project Manager will oversee government programs, planning, directing, and controlling activities to ensure program objectives and customer requirements are achieved from pre-award to completion. The role will also involve scoping new programs including writing proposals and statements of work. You will be responsible for customer interface and communication to program teams. You will interface with all aspects of the company, including production, engineering, sales, accounting, executive management, and government customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the budget, schedule, and resource allocation of programs through initiation, planning, execution, and closing of program objectives.
  • Develop detailed project plans, including work breakdown structures and resource breakdown structures.
  • Create integrated master schedules and Gantt charts to track milestones and schedule variance.
  • Manage program resources and track resource hours to budgeted hours.
  • Prepare and present routine status reports and risk assessments to executives and customers.
  • Coordinate with Principal Investigators and Project Accountants regarding technical tasking and financial tracking of existing and future programs.
  • Write proposals and statements of work to achieve the objectives of the program.
  • Maintain project-related records, including contracts and change orders.
  • Coordinate and manage external contractors and consultants.
  • Ensure previous lessons learned are incorporated into future program planning and execution.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, sciences, business or demonstrated experience. A technical background is desirable.
  • MBA or PMP certification highly preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in DoD/DoE-related program management. Experience crafting successful proposals and then successfully managing multi-year, multi-million-dollar RDT&E projects and prime- or sub-prime commercial contracts with the DoD advantageous.
  • Excellent communication, writing and presentation skills with the ability to regularly interface with executive management and customers. Ability to work with remote teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple activities and projects using superior organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft office and advanced skills in Microsoft Project, Jira, or other project management software. Familiarity with reporting, visualization, intelligence, and analysis tools.
  • Demonstrated laboratory experience working with optical components.
  • Technical writing, proposal preparation, and technical presentation.
  • NOTE – Must be a U.S. Citizen due to clients under U.S. government contracts.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a manufacturing or technology environment within aerospace or defense desired.

Pay:  $140,000-$180,000/salary
