Environmental Health & Safety Manager
Principal Responsibilities
Cambium is seeking an experienced Environmental Health & Safety Manager to lead day-to-day EHS program execution across our chemistry laboratory and composite manufacturing operations. This role will be a key stakeholder in regulatory compliance programs, environmental health systems, and safety operations while partnering closely with the VP of Safety, Environmental & Regulatory Affairs to ensure strategic alignment.
Key Responsibilities
Regulatory & Compliance Programs
- Manage OSHA compliance programs while maintaining required documentation and processes
- Lead RCRA hazardous waste program (generator status, manifests, training, inspections)
- Oversee DOT hazardous materials shipping compliance
- Maintain HazCom program and SDS management system
- Administer chemical inventory management and regulatory reporting
- Conduct and manage internal and external compliance audits
- Maintain compliance with NFPA, NIOSH, and applicable industrial hygiene standards
- Support emergency response planning and drills
Environmental Health & Industrial Hygiene
- Oversee industrial hygiene monitoring and exposure assessments
- Ensure proper hazardous waste storage, labeling, and disposal
- Manage inspections and documentation of engineered safety controls
- Oversee safety-critical preventive maintenance
- Conduct routine safety walks and facility inspections
Incident Management & Continuous Improvement
- Partake in incident investigations and root cause analysis
- Track corrective actions and ensure closure
- Develop and implement safety training programs
- Maintain OSHA logs and required recordkeeping
- Identify process improvement opportunities to reduce risk and improve compliance maturity
Operational Support
- Support chemical procurement process to ensure regulatory compliance
- Author and manage Safety Data Sheets (SDS) where required
- Partner with operations, engineering, and R&D teams to ensure safe scale-up of materials
- Support regulatory data collection for TSCA and REACH compliance
Key Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Engineering, Chemistry, or related field
- 5–10+ years of EHS experience in chemicals, advanced materials manufacturing, aerospace, or defense
Deep working knowledge of:

- OSHA regulations related to chemical and materials manufacturing
- RCRA hazardous waste management
- DOT, IATA/ICAO, IMDG hazmat shipping
- Hazard Communication standards
- Industrial hygiene fundamentals
- Experience participating in audits and regulatory inspections
- Experience conducting incident investigations and implementing corrective actions
- Strong documentation and administrative discipline
- You must have a strong desire to learn and be willing to work in a hands-on role
- Due to the nature of the work, you must have US citizenship
- Ability to complete tasks on time with little supervision
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in large scale chemical synthesis laboratories
- CIH, CSP, CHMM, or similar certification
- Experience implementing EHS management systems (ISO 14001 / ISO 45001)
As a condition of employment, the candidate may need to successfully complete a medical evaluation and obtain clearance to wear respiratory personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by OSHA 29 CFR 1910.134.
