Laser & Directed
Energy Protection

Laser Threat

Dual-use Laser eye protection (LEP) is vital for pilots in high-risk environments where even low-grade 532 nm handheld lasers are being used to harm and menace military and civilian professionals on land, air, and sea.

Just one second of exposure to the human eye from these lasers can cause temporary flash blindness, transient eyesight impairment, and sometimes career-ending vision disability

Commercial pilots are being lazed tens of thousands of time each year according to FAA filings, access to protective eyewear worn during take off and landing could protect against the most common handheld laser threats.

Our Work

We designed and are rapidly advancing LEP technology with broad dual-use applications that will be commercial-ready/procurement-ready starting in 2026.

We have conducted 3rd party laboratory testing with the industry standard testing labs.

Demos and day-night field testing have been conducted with both military and civilian users.

We are making this protective technology widely available for orders from complete eyewear to lens-only orders, as well as helmet-integrated solutions, delivering optical protection and color acuity across formats.

Key Benefits

  • Superior laser protection
  • Superior visual & color acuity
  • Single lens for day & night operation
  • Lens scratches do not degrade performance
  • Angle & form-factor agnostic
  • Seamless helmet & night vision integration
  • Lenses can accommodate most prescription powers
  • AI-aided design allows for rapid lens performance profile redesign & redeployment to adapt to changing threats
  • Various individual & multiple bandwidth protection available

Commercial Applications

Currently in Development:

  • Eyewear
  • Peel-and-stick thin film for larger applications
Potential Applications:
  • Protective visors
  • Cockpit windows & canopies
  • Sensor shields
  • Industrial sensor coatings
  • CCTV lens film

Laser Eye Protection (LEP)

Lead Product in Optics Protection

Optical gear designed to shield human eyes from harmful laser exposure in operational, industrial, or combat environments.

Laser eyewear protection is vital in high-risk environments where directed energy attacks threaten military personnel, pilots, and first responders.

Transparency Protection

Laser-blocking windows or viewports that protect crew and onboard systems while maintaining critical visibility in vehicles and vessels.

Canopies are made of alternating layers of polymers and glass—our materials and coating innovations are well-suited for this layered architecture.

Sensor System Protection

Protective materials and coatings that defend optical and electronic sensors from laser damage or disruption, preserving functionality and data integrity.

The coating technologies we develop for glass will directly apply to discrete sensor components or sensor coverings, which are typically made from glass or crystalline materials.
